| Breaking News |  | Arizona Trades Upton for New York (N)'s Sandoval
Saturday, July 7th, 2018: After prolonged negotiations Arizona agreed to ship 33-year-old second baseman B.J. Upton to New York (N) for 23-year-old second baseman Ánibal Sandoval and 21-year-old minor league catcher Álex Mateo. The deal is awaiting confirmation from the league office but neither team expects any hang-ups. "It took longer than expected," said one GM, "but we knew that the deal was going to happen."
Upton is swinging at a .206 pace on the year with 11 home runs, 31 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has played in 85 games.
So far this year Sandoval is hitting .220 with 2 home runs. |

The Milwaukee Brewers have reached an agreement with the Seattle Mariners that will send the Brewers 30-year-old second baseman Hiroyuki Nakajima to the Mariners for 34-year-old center fielder Yoshi Tan. Commenting on the transaction, the Milwaukee GM said, "This was a deal we couldn't resist."
For the season Nakajima is batting .241 with 72 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 39 times and batted in 38.
So far this year Tan is batting .213 with 6 home runs, 28 RBIs and 50 runs scored. |
